Want to buy some worship CD's, but are not sure what to pick? Check out Don Jennings' suggestions.
Category: Popular Worship Chris Tomlin - Arriving Simply the best worship album of all time. Chris is the #1 worship artist and this is his best album, so I rank it the "best of the best." The first five songs should be sung by every worshipping congregation in America. I could listen to it every day. Category: Rock Worship SonicFlood - SonicFlood This, along with Keith Green's "No Compromise," is one of the two albums that I can honestly say changed my life. In "No Compromise," Keith strips away all pretense and excuse, bringing you face to face with God. The original SonicFlood was a vortex of pounding drums, thundering bass, overdriven electric guitar and emotive vocals, all in devotion to Jesus. Rock on! Seeing them for the first time in the worship tent at Creation '99 was a worship experience I will never forget. Category: Alternative Rock Worship Kutless: Strong Tower In the vein of the original SonicFlood, Kutless has a knack for taking another artist's song, adding creative guitar licks and raw emotion resulting in a powerful worship experience. Their own songs aren't half-bad, either. Runner-up: Skillet: Ardent Worship Category: Live Worship I have to give a slight nod to SonicPraise over Offerings due to superior flow from one song to another. That's important in a live album. Offerings could benefit from better production. SonicFlood - SonicPraise If you like rock worship, and I know you do, this album will take you on a worship adventure from the opening eBow lick to the closing power chord. Best of the early SonicFlood, which is the best of SonicFlood. Another CD I could listen to every day. Third Day - Offerings Third Day is at their best live, so this is the very best Third Day album, in my humble opinion. Let's strip away the overdubs, orchestration and other studio fluff and get down to some serious rock 'n' roll. Now that's what I'm talkin' about! |
